Breakthru Center is proud that our founder was asked to contribute a chapter to the book, Heart of Success, which is targeted for release Labor Day Weekend of 2011.  Kline discusses “The Heart of a Startup”, where she discusses her Four Pillars of Start-up Success—passion, adequate funding, technical savvy, and, of course, leadership.  Leadership, incidentally, is the skill which will help startups transition from the flat-out sprint of a startup to the different set of skills necessary to “step-up” to the next level of business.  Kline likens start up strategies to sprinting across a plain and then encountering the rugged foothills of second stage growth.  It takes a different set of skills to get up a mountain—and it takes teamwork.

Kline recently recorded a podcast with Joyce Schwarz, the organizer and editor of Heart of Success,  that included highlights from the chapter, which readers can hear by clicking on “Heart of the Startup” chapter review on the home page of Kline’s speaking and consulting website at

There is an excerpt of the chapter at the website, and Breakthru Center expects to announce in the fall a downloadable ebook on this topic, as well as Kindle and Google books availability so that people can read it on their mobile phones or iPad.
